Fellowship
& Religious Training Originally
conceived to fill the void for those people who graduate high school until they
have a family and children, this class is for anybody who does not “fit”
into any other Sunday School class First Baptist Church offers. Did
we get your attention, yet??? As
you can see, this is not a traditional Sunday School class that uses pre-printed
materials and follows an established curriculum.
Each person is given a loose leaf binder and the materials are produced
using a variety of sources including the teacher’s personal way of looking at
the world. Topics
studied include the Book of Revelation in excruciating detail (materials
available upon request!) and the soon-to-be-famous (maybe infamous) Bible Hall
of Famers, Shamers and Flamers series. This
series takes familiar (sometimes not so familiar) Bible stories and studies them
from an adult standpoint with the relevance of today in mind. Outside
the classroom, we believe that a Sunday School class is the best place in church
to “connect” with other people. This
class has a Social Committee which tries to plan at least one event each month
to provide this interaction for those that want to participate. Last but not least, why are we named Fellowship And Religious Training? Mostly to humor the Board of Christian Education chairman at the time this class was started. Listen, there has to be learning and fellowship in every Sunday School class, but we also believe in a little bit of humor. So, if you “fit” in any other Sunday School class, please attend. Otherwise, we would love for you to join ours. |
